Large workshops, high-demand homes, EV fast-chargers, and rural Peninsula properties — we design and install three phase power systems from the meter board in.
📞 0418 383 232Three phase power is increasingly relevant across the Mornington Peninsula — not just for farms and workshops, but for large modern homes with high electrical demand, properties with fast EV chargers, and businesses throughout Frankston, Mornington, and surrounding areas. Impulse Electrical handles all the internal electrical work and coordinates the network connection application with Powercor or United Energy on your behalf.
⚡ Common three phase applications on the Peninsula:
• Workshops with welders, lathes, air compressors, or CNC machinery
• Properties with 22kW+ EV fast chargers (e.g. Tesla Wall Connector on 3-phase)
• Large rural properties in Red Hill, Flinders, Baxter, and Tyabb
• Commercial and light industrial premises in Frankston and Mornington
Connecting three phase power to a property involves both network (Powercor/United Energy) and internal electrical work. The network connection fee is set by the distributor — typically $1,500–$8,000+ depending on distance from the existing three phase network. Internal switchboard and wiring upgrades add $2,000–$6,000. Total costs vary significantly by location — rural properties near Flinders or Red Hill often cost more than Frankston or Mornington township properties.
Most Peninsula homes run fine on single phase. You likely need three phase if you have: a large workshop with 3-phase machinery, an EV charger requiring more than 7kW charging speed, a 3-phase ducted air conditioning system, a large solar + battery system exceeding single phase capacity, or a rural property with heavy agricultural loads. We can assess your situation and advise honestly — sometimes a single phase upgrade is all you need.
Single phase delivers 230V via one active wire (plus neutral and earth). Three phase delivers power via three active wires at 400V between phases — providing three times the power capacity of single phase. Three phase also offers smoother, more efficient power delivery for motors and industrial equipment. Most Peninsula homes only need single phase; three phase is for high-demand applications.
