Need a Level 2 ASP for meter connections, service lines, or private power poles? We coordinate accredited Level 2 providers so your job gets done without the runaround.
📞 0418 383 232Level 2 electrical work refers to tasks that involve the "service lines" — the wiring that runs from the electricity distributor's network to your property's meter. Standard licensed electricians (A Grade) are qualified to work on everything inside your property, but service line work requires an Accredited Service Provider (ASP) who is specifically authorised by the network operator such as United Energy or AusNet Services.
Common Level 2 jobs include: connecting a new service to a newly built home or shed, upgrading from single-phase to three-phase supply, relocating or replacing a private power pole, installing or relocating an underground service, and permanently disconnecting a property from the network (for demolitions). If you're not sure whether your job involves Level 2 work, just call us — we'll assess it and tell you what's needed.
We work with accredited Level 2 providers to get the service-side work done as part of a complete job. Rather than leaving you to find and coordinate a separate Level 2 ASP yourself, we handle that relationship for you. We'll scope what's needed, liaise with the Level 2 provider and the distributor, and make sure the internal electrical work on your side of the meter is ready to connect — all managed as a single job.

What is a Level 2 electrician?
A Level 2 Accredited Service Provider (ASP) is an electrician authorised by the electricity distributor (such as United Energy or AusNet) to work on service lines — the wires connecting the street network to your property. Standard licensed electricians cannot work on these lines. Level 2 work includes installing or relocating overhead or underground service lines, connecting new meters, and working on private power poles.
When do I need Level 2 electrical work?
You need a Level 2 ASP when you are building a new home and need a new service connection, upgrading to three-phase power, relocating your meter box, replacing or installing a private power pole, or disconnecting a demolished building from the network. If your standard electrician identifies that the work touches the service line or metering equipment, they will coordinate with a Level 2 provider.
Can Impulse Electrical arrange Level 2 work for me?
Yes. While we carry out all standard A Grade electrical work on your property, we work alongside trusted accredited Level 2 providers when your job requires it. We handle coordination so you're not chasing two separate contractors — we manage the scope, timing, and communication on your behalf.
How much does Level 2 electrical work cost?
Level 2 costs vary significantly depending on whether the work is overhead or underground, how far the connection run is, and what metering changes are required. The distributor may also charge application or connection fees. Call us on 0418 383 232 and we'll scope the job and provide a clear quote.
